If you are noticing changes in facial fullness or contour, choosing a filler involves more than a brand name. At SARA Surgery in Morton Grove, we discuss the area you want to address, the type of change you prefer, and whether Sculptra or Radiesse fits your goals.
Two Different Approaches to Volume and Collagen
Sculptra
Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid and works gradually through collagen stimulation. It may suit patients who are comfortable with changes developing over time rather than expecting a finished result at the first appointment. Treatment often involves a series of sessions.
Radiesse
Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a gel carrier. It provides volume and supports collagen production. Its use depends on the treatment area and the specific product; it is not interchangeable with Sculptra.
Neither product is the right choice for every area of the face. Your provider will explain the intended use, alternatives, and expected duration for the proposed treatment.
How We Plan Treatment
At your consultation, discuss where you have noticed change and how subtle or substantial a result you want. An assessment of your facial structure and skin helps guide the recommendation. Tell us about previous fillers, reactions, medical conditions, medications, and any history of unusual scarring.
We can also explain how these treatments differ from Juvederm and Restylane hyaluronic acid fillers. Choosing between them should account for the material, treatment area, timing, and options if a concern develops after injection.
What to Expect After Injections
Swelling, bruising, tenderness, and lumps or nodules can occur. Initial swelling is not the final result. Follow the instructions for the product you receive, and ask when to return for review before making decisions about further treatment.
Fillers carry rare but serious risks if material enters a blood vessel, including tissue injury, vision loss, or stroke. Contact your provider immediately for unusual pain or skin changes, and seek emergency care for vision changes or stroke symptoms. Your provider will review the product’s patient information and risks with you.
A Consultation Focused on Your Features
The goal is to help you make an informed choice about changes that matter to you. There is no single filler plan for everyone, and results are not guaranteed.
