We’re proud to share that our founder and lead surgeon, Sara R. Dickie, MD, has been named President of The Plastic Surgery Foundation (The PSF).
Dr. Dickie officially assumed the role at Plastic Surgery The Meeting, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ annual scientific conference in Houston. Her presidential term will conclude on September 19, 2027.
For our team at SARA Surgery, this is a meaningful milestone in Dr. Dickie’s career and her work to support the future of plastic surgery.
Supporting Research, Innovation, and Collaboration
The Plastic Surgery Foundation supports research, education, and international activities in collaboration with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Its work helps researchers and surgeons develop knowledge that can advance the specialty and improve patient care.
As President, Dr. Dickie will help shape the foundation’s strategic direction, with a focus on research, innovation, and global collaboration.
In the announcement, Dr. Dickie emphasized the importance of bringing people together:
“The most meaningful advances happen when researchers, surgeons and advocates work together toward a common goal. I look forward to building on that foundation to strengthen opportunities for collaboration that ultimately benefit patients and the specialty.”
Her priorities include strengthening opportunities for that collaboration to benefit patients and the specialty.
A Continuing Commitment to Professional Service
Dr. Dickie has been an active ASPS member since 2015. Her leadership experience includes work in fundraising, public education, and professional development.
Most recently, she served as Board Vice President, Development, helping grow philanthropic initiatives that supported research and patient care. Her presidency builds on that service and gives her an opportunity to contribute to the foundation’s work on a broader scale.
From SARA Surgery to the Wider Specialty
Dr. Dickie founded Surgical Aesthetics + Reconstructive Arts—SARA Surgery—as a solo private plastic surgery practice in the Chicago area.
While attending the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, she developed an appreciation for plastic surgery’s combination of artistry, anatomy, innovation, and problem-solving. Those interests have continued through her clinical career and her involvement in advancing the specialty.
At SARA, we’re pleased to celebrate this next chapter with our patients and community. We look forward to seeing the contributions Dr. Dickie and her colleagues make during her term.
